- Symphonie Pro DEMO - Quickstart
- -------------------------------
-
- Symphonie Pro is a 100% 16 Bit program.
-
- Symphonie Pro performs on standard Amigas rates upto max 240 kHz
- (much more than CD !)
- Symphonie Pro performs on standard Amigas 14Bit Sound (84dB)
- (a tiny bit under CD)
-
- Users with slow cpu's may not be able to do realtime rendering at 250kHz,
- but you can still RENDER to hd at 250kHz (even with a 68EC020)
-
- Symphonie Pro can already understand lots of 16 Bit formats, and there
- are more to come.
-
- Symphonie is 100% non destructive (samples)
-
- Symphonie runs on A1200/A4000 and on Amigas with turboboard + OS3.0/3.1
-
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
- IF YOU HAVE SYMPHONIE PRO, THERE IS NO NEED TO BUY ANY SOUNDCARD
- UNLESS YOU ARE A CD PRODUCTION CENTER OR ANYTHING SIMILAR.
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
-
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Symphonie is very complex and may be too new to be understood by everyone
- so, here follow some hints:
-
- Symphonie is too slow ?
- -----------------------
-
- If you want the same high quality sound, there is NO WAY in doing it faster.
- Its simply impossible to do it faster without reducing quality.
-
- Symphonie has been designed from the beginning to be very adjustable in manners
- of speed, quality, and cpu power use.
-
- BEST IS: If you buy a faster cpu you DO get higher audio quality TOO !!!!
-
-
- How can I get maximum quality ?
- -------------------------------
-
- (0. reset your machine to clean up memory fragmentation)
-
- 1. Make sure you select a 30Khz screen mode (e.g. Euro72Hz, Multiscan ...)
- or you will NEVER EVER be able to play higher rates than 28Khz
-
- 2. Select Audio Mode 14 Bit, (Oversampling 14 Bit for low power users)
-
- 3. Load your desired module
-
- 4. NOW set the System buffers to MAXIMUM(255), symphonie will verify
- and reduce the buffer number to the maximum possible for a certain bpm.
-
- (always remember: If there are no large fastmem chunks symphonie
- may take chipmem instead -> symphonie gets slower )
-
-
-
- There is a strange delay while playing over the keyboard
- --------------------------------------------------------
-
- For realtime performance you should reduce the MENU:Prefs/System/System Buffer
- to 8. But for playing songs you ought to put System Buffers as high as possible !!!
-
-
-
- There is disturbance because the sound is too loud
- --------------------------------------------------
-
- Decrease MENU:Prefs/s. Preprocessor/Sampleboost by 10 and RELOAD(!) the module
-
- If a certain song does use DSP then the sound may be louder than a song not using
- the DSP (general rule)
-
-
-
- The Mousepointer does freeze while playing !
- --------------------------------------------
-
- Press both Mousebuttons and Symphonie will STOP immediately
- (keep them pressed for some secs if you use long buffering)
-
- This is only the case, if you let your cpu run a the limits of its power.
- If you want fast multitasking you are to reduce the mix quality (FREQ)
- If you want best quality you must heighten mix quality.
-
-
-
- 14 BIT = 16 BIT ?
- -----------------
-
- The Render quality with a soundcard is of course much better than over
- Amiga's paula chip. Moreover Soundcards may also have multiple postoversampling
- reducing noise even more.
-
- A lot of DSP FX sounding noisy on 14 Bit may sound very clear with a 16 Bit soundcard
-
-
- Modules ?
- ---------
- If you want some more modules ask Marco Ege. He is musician.
-
- If you like the Demo modules don't tell me, tell Marco Ege instead !
- If you'd like sound rendered in 16 Bit ask Marco Ege for demo tapes.
- (requests for CDs may be interesting too, as CDs get cheaper every day)
- See the guide for more details...
-
-
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- WARNING:
-
- IF YOU ADJUST THE MONITOR FREQS YOUR MONITOR MAY BLOW UP.!!!
-
- IF YOU DONT BE CAREFULL WITH THE DSP SECTION YOUR SPEAKERS/MONITORS
- MAY BLOW UP WITH EASE. YOUR AMPLIFIER MAY BE DESTROYED TOO !!!
-
- IF SYMPHONIE IS ACTIVE THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS IN A SPECIAL UNEXPECTED
- STATE, DUE TO HEAVY CPU LOAD/ HEAVY INTERRUPTING - SO, BE VERY CAREFUL
- WITH MULTITASKING OR YOUR SYSTEM MAY CRASH.
-
- IF YOU PLAY SOUNDS AT HIGHER RATES THAN 28KHZ YOU DO IT AT YOUR OWN
- RISK, AS THIS DMA MODE IS NOT OFFICIALLY DOCUMENTED.
-
-
-
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------
- to run Symphonie Demo you NEED:
-
- 1. OS3.0 or higher
- 2. CPU 68EC020-060 (no FPU needed(yet), no MMU needed)
- 3. reqtools.library

- DJs may ask for special live performance versions which will
- be developed on demand.
- (eg. multispeaker versions, netsymphonie, special sync versions)
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
-
- If you also think that Symphonie is a breakthrough in Amiga soundquality
- think about this: Symphonie would also run on a A1000 of 1986 if I didn't
- use the expanded 020 assembler instructions, because the paula chip producing
- the sound has never changed since then.
- (But protracker led into the wrong direction, until today...)
-
-
- Symphonie is not guaranteed to do anything
- in any case on any machine. But, whatever is does it does it better.
